Leathercraft has been in India since the Indus Valley civilization. It is a deep-rooted art form of the Marwada Meghwal community of Kutch, who migrated from Sindh. Being one of those timeless handicrafts, it has grown to blend traditional methods of design with modern techniques. Its production is a combined effort between men and women. The leather used in the making is cruelty-free leather, which is in high demand amongst modern-day consumers. With neatly fitted straps and handles, these bags are also decorated with aesthetic embroidery and sometimes fitted with bells and mirrors to add a traditional touch of the land of Kutch to it. Even today, it is used to make beautiful bags, clutches, mirror pouches, leather belts and much more.
