Mizizi Empowers Artisans and believes in Making Handicrafts Mainstream

Mumbai/Bhubaneswar, 9th March 2023 – Mizizi, which means roots in Swahili, is a start up promoting Indian handicrafts. It has launched with a mission to empower artisans and make handicraft mainstream in people’s life. This venture is dedicated to preserving traditional Indian handicrafts, which reflect the country’s rich cultural heritage and making them accessible to a global audience.

At the heart of Mizizi are its co-founders, Mona Bhageria and Nikita Bhageria, who hail from rural India. This venture took shape as a result of their shared admiration for Indian handicrafts and the need to provide recognition and sustainable career to our artisans.

The company works directly with artisans from all over India to source unique and high-quality handicrafts, including home decor items, pottery, jewellery and textiles.

“At Mizizi, we are here to celebrate our rich culture by recognizing the momentousness of our roots, neatly reflected in fine handicrafts, and contemporizing it to suit the evolving fashion and décor trends” says Mona Bhageria .

“A single handicraft has its own unique story that reflects the magic of an artisan’s hands. Imagine the potential that thousands of artisans have to inspire and captivate. We are here to capture that very potential.”, says Nikita Bhageria .

Mizizi wants to make handicrafts – MAINSTREAM.

“Handicrafts are an integral part of Indian culture, and they deserve to be celebrated and preserved,” says Nikita. Our aim is to create a brighter future for traditional Indian handicrafts by empowering artisans and providing global accessibility to their work.

Mizizi offers a wide range of affordable handicrafts in home decor, from vibrant art materials to intricately designed pottery. Each piece is unique and tells a story about the artisan who created it. The company also offers customizable pieces, allowing customers to create bespoke items that reflect their personal style.

“Affordability with quality is what every consumer looks for. Our products are fairly priced, which satisfies the consumer’s expectations and gives a fair return to our well-deserving artisans” says Mona. The venture works with a network of artisans, especially at the grassroot level, who are skilled in various handicrafts. It provides them with a sustainable source of income. It is a step towards being ‘Atmanirbhar’.

“Creating employment opportunities is an important part of our mission. We believe that by empowering artisans, we can help break the cycle of poverty and create a better future for generations to come,” say the co-founders.
